Man slits throat at Naivasha stage after lover rejects him

Naivasha residents were on Thursday left in shock a young man slit his throat in public over rejection.

According to witnesses, the victim boarded a 14-seater matatu in the company of a woman who appeared to be his ex-lover.

The men pleaded with her to give him a second chance but they became too loud that a passenger asked them to alight and settle their issue at the bus stop.

Quietly, they disembarked from the vehicle. All this time, the man, 23, had a beer bottle. After a failed attempt to woo back his former lover he did the unthinkable.

He broke the bottle while and went on to slit his throat. The woman was shocked.

Members of the public who witnessed the incident alerted police who quickly arrived to the scene and whisked the man to the hospital.
He was bleeding profusely.

Police say that the man had travelled from Thika to Naivasha to try and get back with his former lover but she turned him down.

He will be charged with attempted suicide once he gets well.
He adds to a growing list of love-related murders that have been reported in the last week.

It started with Evans Karani who strangled to death his concubine Caroline Nyokabi and left her body in Ndarugo, Witeithie area of Juja.

Karani who confessed to Killing Nyokabi told detectives that Nyokabi, 24, was seeing another man and had tried to stop her but it was in vain. Karani is married and has kids.

On Tuesday, police arrested 44-year-old Franklin Munyao who allegedly murdered his girlfriend and had been living with the body in his house.

Police are investigating the motive of the murder.
