Man who posed as DCI officer, KRA official and Pharmacy board official arrested

Detectives for the Directorate of Criminal Investigation have arrested a Kenyan man who has three staff IDs bearing huge positions in three top institution in the country.

Police are yet to establish the real identity of the man who calls himself Gordwins O Agutu in the three staff IDs is indeed.

In the first dupe, he purports to be working with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) as the Assistant Commissioner Domestic Tax Survailance (sic).

In the second dupe, he alleges to work for Kenya Pharmacy and Poisons Board and his fake staff ID bears the name Gordwins O Agutu.

His position allegedly, “pharmavigilance and survailance” (sic).

In the third and courageous show of duping, he purports to be a staff of the “Criminal Investigation Department” with the rank of Senior Superintendent of Police (S.S.P).

Unknowingly for him, the department was changed to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI).

The man was arrested on Wednesday at Kiboro School in Kayole after members of the public who he had duped descended on him according to Nairobi News.

It is not yet clear if he has used the three IDs to make any transaction financially or otherwise.

KRA in particular wrote to the DCI and Central Bank to probe if the suspect has made any transactions.

Kayole OCPD Joseph Gichangi said they have launched investigations and will arraign the impostor in court once they are through.

“Once we are done with investigations and complainants have given us information about him, we will arraign him in court,” said the Kayole OCPD as Nairobi News reports.

His arrest come hot in the heels of the arrest of another police impostor who lived in Uhuru camp for six months undetected.

Kennedy Mojong Ekale, 26, had full police regalia.

The camp hosts Administration Police officers attached to securing government buildings unit and also those seconded to providing security for bodyguards.
