A Nairobi Court on Monday issued a warrant of arrest for embattled Goldenscape CEO Peter Wangai for jumping bail.

Wangai was scheduled to appear in court for a hearing but did not show up.

The Goldenscape CEO failed to appear in court for a second time. In March, he failed to show up in court and his lawyer told the court that he was suffering from Covid-19.

Wangai found himself on the firing line in March 2020 when an exposé on his malpractices was aired by Citizen TV.

At the time, 53 people cried foul of getting nothing from the company after investing.

They recorded statements with the DCI and investigations so far show that he is culpable of criminal offences.

The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji approved 360 charges on Wangai. He forwarded the criminal files to relevant authorities for proceedings to commence.

When he was first arrested in 2020, Wangai was charged with 21 counts of fraud through his company Goldenscape.

The firm had collected millions of shillings from investors buying land from then with the promises of greenhouse investment.

“Wangai, through his company, lured investors to invest in greenhouses that were to be set up in Ol Kalou, Nyahururu and other places which turned out to be a fraudulent investment deal,” the statement by DCI read in part.
