Matiang’i outlaws NRM, terms it an organized criminal group like Mungiki

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has been outlawed by government as an organized criminal group.

Immediately after Raila Odinga was sworn in as the people’s president at Uhuru Park on Tuesday, Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i released the gazette notice outlawing NRM.

The CS declared the outfit as an organized criminal group.

This is a major blow for the opposition coalition which has banked on NRM to spew civil disobedience and lead the call for boycotting products and services from companies that allegedly took part in bungling August 8 polls.

So far, fiery lawyer Miguna Miguna has declared himself the NRM general. Last week, he elevated his status when he called on NASA supporters to boycott the products of Haco Tiger Industries-a company inked to business mogul Chris Kirubi.

He said the company which deals in manufacture of stationery, hair oil, shampoo among other things is culpable of bungling August 8 polls.

NRM has also blacklisted Brookside Dairies-a company linked to President Uhuru Kenyatta, Bidco and Safaricom.

The three companies are alleged to have been conduits of electoral injustice in the August 8 polls.

With the gazette notice outlawing NRM, it effectively joins other banished criminal organizations such as mungiki, gaza, kwekwe and Al shabaab.
