The state has once again deported self-styled NRM ‘general’ Miguna Miguna after a three-day stand-off with immigration officials at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

This comes after High Court Judge George Odunga issued a court order on Wednesday evening requiring the state to release him from his detention centre at JKIA immediately.

He flew out of Kenya via an Emirates’ owned plane EK722 bound for Dubai.

Two of his lawyers, Nelson Havi and Cliff Ombeta confirmed the NASA activist was indeed deported at 11:19pm.

Ombeta, according to Daily Nation claimed Miguna “was sedated, handcuffed and taken away”.

JKIA was on Wednesday evening a no-go zone as contingents of police officers in full combat gear roughed up journalists and lawyers serving judge Odunga’s orders.

His exit from JKIA could have been facilitated by the Canadian High Commission in Kenya.

“Canada was strict on flying rules which he obeyed,” a source told Daily Nation.

Kenyan government insists Miguna has to apply for Kenyan Citizenship because he renounced it in 1998 when he took up Canadian citizenship at a time when the country did not allow any of its citizens to hold dual citizenship.

The fiery lawyer arrived in the country on Monday at 2:30pm. The stand-off ensued after he declined to hand over his travelling documents-Canadian passport for stamping as required.

He said the state could have a plot to confiscate his passport and pushed that he should be allowed to enter the country using his national Kenyan Identity Card.

Efforts to deport him on Monday night via another Emirates’ plane bound for Dubai were futile as he resisted.

He was locked up incommunicado at what he on Wednesday termed as a “tiny, toilet” at JKIA’s Terminal 2.

His second deportation come as judge Odunga fired out at Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiang’i, Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet and Immigration boss Gordon Kihalangwa for disobeying court orders.

“The three are hereby convicted accordingly and should appear before this court tomorrow (Thursday) at 10am,”ruled the judge.
