Hours after President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga publicly pledged to Kenyans to work together, it has emerged that a vocal Jubilee MP had ‘prophesied’ such an eventuality a fortnight ago.

On February 22 this year, firebrand Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria told Kenyans that there are high chances of Raila working with Jubilee between now and the next general polls in 2022.

Kuria in a facebook post confidently noted that the “probability” of Raila working with Jubilee is much higher compared to those of his other NASA co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi.

“Keep this post for future reference. On a balance of probabilities the chances of Raila Odinga working with Jubilee between now and 2022 are much higher than those of Kalonzo, Wetangula and Musalia combined,” he wrote.

He added that he has been in the political game for long and he has the audacity to see a repetition of what happened in 1997 happen once again.

“1997 is about to repeat itself. I have been in these trenches for far too long.”

And his prophesy came to pass on Friday after Uhuru met Raila at Harambee House.

The two leaders are reportedly said to have been in a meeting for hours before finally getting out and addressing the press.

In his short speech to Kenyans, Raila said time has come to work together in effort to unite Kenyans who have been divided by a prolonged electioneering period.

“We need leaders to secure the goals of peace, unity and justice. Such a time has come for Kenya… We refuse to allow our diversity to kill our nation. We have travelled so far … we cannot make it to our destination without bridging the gap,” said Raila.

The President on his part said Kenya is bigger than one individual and time has come for all leaders to work together in mending broken bridges and unity Kenyans.

“All we want is a common understanding that Kenya is greater than any one individual. Leaders must come together and discuss their differences on what ails the country like ethnic divisions across the country,” Uhuru averred.

He added: “We now mark a new beginning as we match together on bringing our people together. We look forward to the support of every leader and every Kenyan.”
