A host of Jubilee politicians have hit out at a Jubilee Governor following his outburst on Sunday claiming some politicians from Mt Kenya region are planning on scuttling DP William Ruto’s presidential ambition.

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko during a church service at PCEA in Runda yesterday claimed a section of politicians from Mt Kenya region have been holding night meetings drawing a plot to scuttle Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.

“We are aware that some politicians from Mount Kenya have been holding night meetings in Nairobi to craft plans on how to support one of their own in 2022,” said Sonko according to Daily Nation.

Ruto together with a host of Jubilee MPs had attended the church service.

But nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura on Monday lashed out at the Governor saying he is now playing diversionary politics to avoid questions of what he has achieved since he took over office as Nairobi Governor.

Thee nominated Senator spoke at NTV during an interview.

He maintained that Mt Kenya region is fully behind the DP in his quest for presidency.

“We are fully behind William Ruto and our leader from Mt Kenya region is undisputed President Uhuru Kenyatta,” he said.

Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki said Sonko’s claims are diversionary politics.

“These are politics that are supposed to rekindle animated debate around this area. This is supposed to divert attention from what is happening in NASA.

“As far as we talk about 2022, it’s already a done deal. It’s not a walk in the park that today you can just come and declare the candidature for the president in 2022 knowing people have been lining up for the same. I don’t see anybody central at the moment who can effectively rival and succeed to be able to remove William Ruto from that floor that he has actually curved for himself,” Njuki remarked.

He added that the debate should be on who will deputize Ruto but not who will compete against him.

“If there’re meetings that could have taken place, they could be talking about who is going to deputize William Ruto. It’s not actually about who is going to compete against him.”
