Murder most foul as Bungoma Pro-Jubilee supporter is shot dead [video]

Crime scene barrier tape.

A pro-Jubilee supporter from Bungoma County has been killed by unknown people.

Businessman Robert Barasa was shot dead on Thursday evening by gunmen who raided his home at Chebukwabi village, Kimilili constituency.

The gunmen made their way to the house by breaking a window. He was shot in the chest after frantic efforts to wrestle the assailants as his wife Zipporah Barasa says.

The 56-year old father of seven had earlier been threatened.

His son was also shot in the leg as he tried to escape. He was admitted to Kimilili Sub-County Hospital.

Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka together with Water CS Eugene Wamalwa visited the family on Friday where they condemned the killing.

Lusaka said that Barasa lost his life for supporting his bid for governorship on a Jubilee ticket.

He called on police to apprehend the killers. “We are telling the security apparatus here that those who committed this murder must be arrested,” said Lusaka.

He added: “He was my staunch supporter and campaigner. Police should find out who committed this heinous act.”

Kimilili OCPD Mary Wakuu said her officers are already investigating the murder.
