The group that surfaced a fortnight ago calling itself Nairobi Business Community has reappeared all revamped with a new look. Four members of the group on Monday appeared in full American military outfit including patrol cap, jackets, combat boots and dark shades.
The group said that they have nothing against the opposition demonstrating in the city center, but they said the demos must be peaceful.
“We are protecting our businesses and the future of our businesses. If the opposition people want to demonstrate, we don’t have any problem. We will only have issue if they destroy our businesses,” warned Mr. Wilfred Kamau, the leader of the Nairobi Business Community.
They continued to encourage everyone to participate in the elections scheduled for Thursday, October 26th.
This comes a few days after a group of women in jubilee leadership wore similar attire that included red berets during jubilee campaigns.
It is against the National Police Act for civilians to dress in disciplined forces’ uniforms, and offenders are “liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding one million shillings or to a term of imprisonment not exceeding ten years, or to both.”
Section 279 of the KDF Act provides for “imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year” for offenders.
