National Bank of Kenya has admitted that the bank lost Sh29 million to fraudsters who hacked the bank’s system on Wednesday.

“We admit there was attempted an attempted fraud in normal course of business on 17th January but the bank’s monitoring and security resources frustrated the attempt,” the bank wrote on their official twitter handle on Friday.

“Security are in pursuit of the fraudsters and investigations are ongoing.”

Further, the bank exuded confidence in recovering the stolen Sh29 million adding that it will not affect the customers’ deposits as speculation has it on social media.

“The amount of attempted fraud is about Sh29 million and we have confidence we will recover all the cash.”

“Customer accounts have not been affected and the latest social media speculation on the potential loss is incorrect,” stated NBK in a newspaper ad.
