Eliud Kipchoge, the world marathon champion has struck a major partnership with sportswear collection, Nike.

The partnership will unveil The Kipchoge Capsule Collection. His initials “E.K” will be emblazoned in Nike sportswear.

He recently made the announcement on his Twitter page saying that he feels proud having the Kenyan flag across different parts of the world.

“It is a long time now since I started running, and while my runs have changed, I’ve always experienced the same joy. I’m incredibly proud to represent Kenya around the clock and with this collection from @nike and myself, people can now wear the flag all around the world,” he tweeted.

In 2019, he broke record in the INEOS 1:59 challenge held in Vienna. It had been sponsored by INEOS.

After the INEOS challenge, the popular tagline “No Human Is Limited” was coined as a result of Kipchoge’s resilience and determination.

The collaboration with Nike comes after controversy which took over after winning the INEOS challenge.

The challenge was about his Nike Vaporfly shoes selling under the name AlphaFly. Critics said that the AlphaFly spurred his performance during the challenge.

The Nike AlphaFly shoes have a thick foamy sole with three carbon-fibre plates. The plate according to Nike increases “metabolic efficiency by 4 per cent”.

The carbon-fibre plate ensures that no energy is lost while running. On the front of the sole, there are Zoom Air cushioning pods.

All these combined, they increased efficiency in taking more strides.

Critics argued that the shoes gave him an undue advantage.

However, Kipchoge while speaking to Telegraph Sports dismissed the critics saying that time has come to embrace technology.

“Technology is growing and we can’t deny it – we must go with technology,” he said.
