Nkaissery laid to rest, man storms podium claiming he will resurrect him

Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has protested his non-recognition at the late Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery’s burial ceremony on Saturday at his Bisil farm.

Moi had been included in the program to deliver a speech from his father, retired President Daniel Moi.

But his name was skipped and instead, he opportunity given to National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi.

Hamilton Parseina, Moi’s aide, reports the Star, protested the Senator’s exclusion from the list citing that it went against the wishes of Nkaissery’s family.

He noted that the Kanu Chairman was to deliver a message to the bereaved family from his father.

Parseina blamed Moi’s exclusion on the Deputy President William Ruto.

However, to cool the waters, Saitoti Maika, the spokesman for family of the late CS said they had to skip some of the dignitaries who were to make speeches as they were pressed by time.

“We took the decision to skip some speakers since we were pressed for time. Some of the dignitaries had made such request,” he said.

Surprisingly, Kajiado Governor Dr David Nkedianye was not recognized at all. He had taken a set next to Raila Odinga.

Earlier, the governor together with Kajiado Central Mp Elijah Memusi had been driven out of Nkaissery’s compound on claims that they had frustrated efforts by the CS to unite the Maa community.

But two days to the burial, Helen Nkaissery held a family meeting where she later announced that the two leaders from Kajiado allied to the opposition were allowed to attend his burial.

Sent by ”Holy Spirit”

Still, at the CS’ funeral service, a man claiming to have been sent by the “Holy Spirit” to resurrect Nkaissery caused a stir.

“The spirit of the Lord sent me here, to come and fight the forces of death,” said the man who gave his name as Anthony Njuguna.

“If you allow me to go back there and pray for Gen Nkaissery; if he does not resurrect, feel free to kill me.”

Antony Njuguna jumped to the podium just when Chief of Defense Forces General Samson Mwathethe was giving his speech.

But he was quickly whisked away by security detail and upon interrogation he said that God had sent him to resurrect the late CS.

“I told God that I would be coming to this place and asked Him to send his angels so that they could protect me until I reached where the casket was,” he told the security officers.

The guards were clearly at a loss as to how the man gained access to the podium, when some VIPs were being denied access to the tent.
