Nyali MP Mohammed Ali at war with Coast leaders over secession call

Nyali MP Mohammed Ali alias Jicho Pevu is on a warpath with fellow coast politicians.

The MP disagrees with NASA allied leaders from the region pushing for secession

Ali, a former investigative journalist with a leading media house hit out at the leaders led by Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi telling them to develop their counties first.

He says secession of coast region by the politicians serves to show they only care about themselves and not the public who put them in those offices.

In English it loosely translates to: “Put aside your pride and hate. Love your neigbours by helping them, educating them and expanding Coast’s development. Your dreams gunning to secede so that you continue sucking blood out of Coast people or use the agenda like a tool to enrich yourselves and your families should stop.”

He adds that the leaders are exhibiting double standards since they were vocal about ending the Mombasa Republican Council (MRC) which was fighting to have Coast region secede and operate independently.

MRC is an outlawed group hat clashed with the authorities in 2012 leading to the arrest of their leader Omar Mwamnuadzi.

“(MRC was scourged by problems pushing for their rights as Coast residents. They did not have a party, only their rights. You remained silent even with their suffering but today you come with a select agenda aimed at sucking our children’s blood because that is the thing remaining. You’re drying up the ocean by building your forts, houses and businesses then you lie that Coast is not in Kenya. Today I tell you without fear that Coast will remain to be Kenya).”
