Nyandarua cleric who pledged to campaign for Raila fears for his life

By Pharis Kinyua: Jamhuri News

A cleric turned politician from Nyandarua County has received death threats for pledging support for Raila Odinga in the August 8 polls, reports the Star.

Moses Mwaura of the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (P.C.E.A) lost in the Jubilee primaries where he was vying for Ndaragwa Parliamentary seat.

It is after his loss that he decided to change camp and he moved to NASA pledging to campaign for Raila and his NASA brigade.

Since then, he says he has been receiving calls from unknown persons who have told him to denounce his support for NASA.

“Immediately after I gave a press briefing, I started receiving calls from strange numbers threatening me and warning me to drop my stand,” says the cleric.

He has also been followed by unmarked cars and just recently he was confronted by two men who are unknown to him in the city.

He has since reported the matter to Parklands Police station and Kilimani but he says he has not gotten any help at all.

He has urged Police to guarantee his safety as he feels his life is in danger.

“I call upon the police to guarantee my security, it is also my constitutional right to support any political party.”
