Former NYS Director-General Dr. Richard Ndubai is in police custody following his arrest on Sunday.

He was arrested alongside other senior NYS officials including assistant director general Sam Michuki, finance manager – a Mr. Mbugua, and a fourth official whose name is yet to be established.

They have been locked up at Muthaiga Police Station and are set to head to DCI headquarters just located a few metres from the police station. They will then be arraigned in court.

They are among scores of suspects who have been roped into the recent NYS scam where Sh9 billion was siphoned from the agency.

Yesterday, the Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji confirmed receiving 10 files from the DCI related to the scandal.

He received Inquiry Files No. 51 of 2018 to 60 of 2018 through a letter from the Director of Public Prosecutions George Kinoti.

“A team of experienced Prosecutors led by the DPP is currently undertaking a final review of the files. The files submitted by DCI to DPP is phase 1 of the investigations,” Haji said in a tweet.

“The DPP assures the Public that appropriate directions based on analysis of evidence and the law shall be issued without undue delay. The DPP wishes to express his appreciation to the efforts and dedication of Multi-Agency Task Force Team in ensuring expeditious and thorough investigations.”

Other reports indicate that police are currently looking for PS Lilian Omollo who together with Ndubai, had gone on a 3-month leave to allow investigations be conducted.
