Raila Odinga’s elder brother Dr. Oburu Oginga has denied reports that he took NASA chief executive Norman Magaya’s slot to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).

Several quarters said that Magaya was slotted to take up the position but it instead went to Oburu.

However, in his defense, he said that he was fronted by ODM party and not ANC which fronted Magaya.

He also said that the fact he is Raila’s brother did not give him an upperhand in EALA appointment because he charts his own course.

“Each party was given a chance to nominate its preferred candidates to the EALA. ODM had two, ANC had three, Wiper three. Any claims that I took Magaya’s slot is foolhardy,” Oburu told the Star.

“Even if I’m Raila’s brother that does not bar me from taking up the position I deem qualified,” averred Oburu.

He said such talks are being perpetuated with an aim of disintegrating NASA as a coalition.

“It’s unfortunate there were was prejudice against Magaya by Jubilee legislators, who are now claiming that I took his slot,” she said.

“They cannot again allege that I shortchanged him when they vowed not to vote for Magaya immediately he was shortlisted.”

He cast aspersion of Jubilee Party saying they have hatched a plot to cause wrangles within NASA.

“We are aware that Jubilee is also electing ODM members unopposed to head house committees and turn back to incite affiliate parties in NASA against ODM for taking the giant share.”
