ODM IT officer goes missing after altering names of candidates presented to IEBC

By Pharis Kinyua: Jamhuri News

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has been forced to send in a new list of candidates to IEBC after an IT officer stationed at Orange House altered the names of candidates.

This happened two nights ago at around 2am in a case that has raised questions over the integrity of some junior officers at the IEBC’s IT department.

It is reported that they colluded with the IT guy from Orange House who has since gone missing.

The changes made affected candidates for Kisumu East, Nyakach, Nyatike and Muhoroni constituencies respectively as well as several wards within the country as the Star reports.

However, Raila Odinga, the party leader, is said to be working towards rectifying the situation.

ODM Executive Director Oduor Ong’wen as well as the Party’s National Elections Board chair Judith Pareno are now in the eye of a storm following the alteration of the names.

Ong’wen on Friday when reached for comment on the matter said a list presented by the party to IEBC still stands and that they will deal with the IT officer in question accordingly.

“The list stands. But if anyone, whether senior or junior officer, tried to manipulate the list, they will be dealt with,” he said.

IEBC’s communication Manager Mr. Andrew Limo said they have clear guidelines on when they should change the names adding it is just in case of a ruling by the Political Parties Tribunal.
