The recently concluded party nominations across all political divides have come to a close.

But it has left a trail of expensive campaigns staged by several politicians who have either lost or won tickets in their respective party primaries.

And nominated MP Isaac Mwaura has shocked many Kenyans after revealing to Citizen TV that he spent sh29 million to fund his nomination campaign.

However, he did not win the Jubilee ticket to vie for Ruiru Parliamentary seat. He came a distant third with over 4, 000 votes while his challenger Simon Kingara emerged winner with more than 10, 000 votes.

Asked if he feels the pinch for having not won the primaries yet he spent such a huge amount of money for the campaigns, he said he feels just fine.

But he rode on goodwill from his friends and other people who believed in him as he says.

Still on campaigns, Esther Passaris-she clinched ODM ticket to vie for Nairobi Women representative seat. She spent sh10 million to fund her campaign.

She too, fundraised and got support from her supporters, friends and well wishers.

“I used approximately 10 million in my campaign, raising funds from friends, family, well-wishers. Words cannot express how grateful I am,” said Passaris when she appeared on Citizen TV Monday.

She will battle it out with Jubilee’s Rachael Shebesh. Passaris vied in 2013 for the same seat and came third.

This time round, she has expressed optimism in trouncing Shebesh citing that she has better and sound agenda for Nairobi residents.
