More features on Facebook Live stream will have a standard charge to access it allowing creators and performers to start earning from the platform.
In its new plan in the addition of features, Facebook users will have the “Online-only” tool where anyone who wishes to watch will be required to pay some amount – access fee – which will, in turn, be channelled to the creators/performers.
The platform will also have a “donate button” for non-profits can get donations on their stream.
“To support creators and small businesses, we plan to add the ability for Pages to charge for access to events with Live videos on Facebook – anything from online performances to classes to professional conferences,” the announcement read.
In the past weeks when coronavirus pandemic has struck the world hard, many entertainers, especially Djs have resorted to holding online performances. Entertainment joints have since shut down.
In the new model by Facebook, the company will have a better and expanded tipping system to the musician by use of “Stars”.
A performer will receive a “tip” for every Star given.
“To help you support some of your favorite creators, we’re expanding Stars to more Pages and more countries. Once you buy Stars you can send them to creators while they’re streaming, and they’ll earn 1 cent for every Star,” the company stated.
It added: “We’re making it easier to access live video so you can watch or listen anywhere. If you have limited data or a spotty connection, you now have the option to listen to the audio only. If you don’t have a Facebook account, most public live videos are now available on the web and some Pages can share a toll-free number that lets you listen to the audio through any telephone.”
