A police constable serving at the Gatundu Police Station has been put behind bars after he allegedly raped a minor inside the police cells.
The heinous act reportedly happened on Saturday at 5am according to the Station’s OCS Joshua Nyasimu.
He defiled a 15-year old girl who had been detained at the station.
Nyasimu, according to Daily Nation, said that the minor confessed the officer in question “had carnal knowledge of her against her will after removing her from cells to do some cleaning within the station.”
The girl narrated her ordeal on Sunday to the officer on duty.
She was rushed to Gatundu Hospital where she was treated
The suspect was thrown behind bars at the station which is also his work station.
The officer is expected to be arraigned in court today.
In November last year, another minor, 14 years old, who had been locked up at Murang’a Police Station was defiled by a police officer attached to the station.
Police Constable Laban Maina Njogu was arrested after public outcry and arraigned in court.
He was released on bond while the young girl was put on witness protection. The case is currently ongoing.
