Opposition Chief Raila Odinga failed to appear before Judiciary Deputy Registrar Daniel ole Keiwua on Friday in a contempt of court case filed against him by Jubilee Party.

Other parties appeared before the Deputy Registrar but Raila and his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka did not.

IEBC and Chairman Wafula Chebukati filed their response and cited they were engaged in conducting the repeat polls.

Jubilee sued Raila for sabotaging repeat Presidential election by withdrawing from the race.

The Party led by President Uhuru Kenyatta said Raila should be held liable for contempt of court and committed to civil jail for 6 months.

JP Secretary General Raphael Tuju said despite the Supreme Court ordering fresh election after nullification of the August 8 polls, Raila has projected disregard of the law by calling for election boycott.

The case was filed on October 19.

It was taken before Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu who ordered JP to serve Raila and Kalonzo with the submissions.

The DCJ ordered all parties to case to be mentioned before the Deputy Registrar of the Supreme Court on October 27 (today).

Ole Keiwua stated the file will now be placed before Mwilu who will in turn constitute a bench of judges to hear and determine the case.
