Opposition Chief Raila Odinga says he is proud to see political temperatures in the country drop courtesy of his handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Raila met President Uhuru Kenyatta on March 9 at Harambee House where they engaged on various issues before they appeared together to address the nation.

The ODM boss said he is happy that besides toning down political temperatures, ethnic profiling which hit a new height with a prolonged electioneering period in 2017, has also come down.

“When I decided to work with President Uhuru Kenyatta after that golden handshake, political temperatures came down. Everyone is now shaking hands for the good of our country,” he said according to the Star.

He spoke at Enkorika, Kajiado Central on Saturday.

He said his bid to dialogue with Uhuru was for purpose of unity the country and not for the sake of jobs or political favours as some would think.

He tickled the crowd when he said his handshake with has been emulated all over the world.

This followed the recent meeting between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, and the South Korean president Moon Jae-in at the world’s most militarised border.

“Three days ago, Korean leaders bonded over handshakes during a world summit in a positive mood that appears to break 65 years of North and South animosity ,”said Raila amid laughter from the crowd.
