Raila upbeat on defeating Uhuru, says more voters registered in NASA strongholds

Opposition leader Raila Odinga has expressed optimism in trouncing his Jubilee competitor and incumbent President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Raila premises his optimism in trouncing Uhuru on the ground that he has inspected the voter’s register and found out that NASA strongholds have registered more voters than Jubilee strongholds.

“We have compared our numbers in the IEBC register to those of my opponents and discovered that I will outshine him [Uhuru] during the elections,” said the former Prime Minister on Monday at Kendu Bay.

He added that with the numbers on his side, the onus of voting lies with voters from his strongholds whom he rallied to come out in large numbers and vote.

He said a huge turnout would create a big marginal win between him an Uhuru.

“We should all turn up and vote,” adding that his coalition has laid elaborate measures to ensure that no single vote will be stolen.

Raila said through the adopt-a-polling station drive, every vote cast for him will be safe.

Still, on opposition matters, NASA has spoken out after Kalonzo Musyoka-Raila’s running mate failed to show up at the running mate’s debate held at the Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA).

NASA co-principal Musalia Mudavadi on Tuesday defended Kalonzo’s no show citing he had pressing political engagements.

Mudavadi noted that they had a meeting with the organizers of the event earlier and as NASA, they objected to the date of the debate but it was never changed.

He added that in the last Presidential debate slated for July 24, Raila will only participate if the organizers of the debate meet the participants and agree on the ground rules.
