Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s last born daughter, Rosemary Odinga has bowed out of Kibra Parliamentary race.

In a facebook post she shared on Monday, Rosemary said she will not be on the ballot citing medical reasons.

“It is following my doctor’s advice, that for the time being, I will continue serving my community in other capacities and regrettably bow out of the race for Member of Parliament,” read Rosemary’s post.

She said she has been in love with Kibra for the last 30 years as it is the “heart beat” of Kenyan politics.

She also said that the spirit of justice deeply entrenched in the locals of Kibra, has inspired her and her family by extension to champion their interest both in and out of Parliament.

“ I must say, the past two years have been the honour of my life getting to engage in the place known as the ‘Heart Beat’ of Kenyan politics, not only as a voter but also as a competitor.

The spirit of the people of Kibra and their passion for justice has always inspired us as a family to champion their interests both in and out of parliament,” further read the post.

She however, thanked the people of Kibra for supporting her bid and wished them well. “I would like to thank each and every person that supported my bid and the people of Kibra for opening their hearts and homes to me. I will forever cherish your outpouring love and prayers.”
