Outgoing Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto is set to make his first public appearance at the swearing in ceremony of county Governor-elect Dr. Joyce Laboso.

Ruto, the Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) boss has not been seen or heard in public since he lost the polls to Dr. Laboso of the Jubilee Party.

The Committee planning the event for next week held its last meeting on Monday.

Jonathan Soi, the committee’s Chairman and also the county secretary said everything was in place for the ceremony and for a smooth succession.

“As the team tasked with this crucial process we have put all the necessary arrangements in place for that particular day and even after to ensure there are no hitches as soon as the new governor comes in as provided for in the law,” Soi told the Star.

Dr. Laboso put up a brave face and trounced Ruto by polling 176, 545 votes against 86, 462 votes.

Since then, the CCM boss who was a NASA co-principal has not been seen or heard in public.

In her acceptance speech, Dr. Laboso promised to turn around the goings on in the county and initiate more development.

She lashed out the outgoing governor saying he has little to show for the period he has been in politics.
