Safaricom subscribers can now purchase content on Google Play store through M-Pesa. This was made possible by Safaricom partnering with a mobile commerce platform, DOCOMO. The platform uses Google Play’s payment Application programming interface.
The partnership will deepen convenience to people using M-Pesa, giving them more access to content as well as more value.
DOCOMO Digital CEO said the aim is to break barriers and develop avenues to connect the world.
”M-Pesa has long been an innovator and leader in the mobile money space, and we are very excited to partner with them to bring this service to market.” Said Hiroyuki, CEO of DOCOMO.
M-Pesa has more than 27 million users in Kenya who use an Android or a tablet to access the internet.
