Senate Deputy Speaker Prof Kithure Kindiki is bearing the blunt of ridicule on social media after he was pictured taking part in construction of mud classrooms in his county on Saturday.

In the pictures that have since gone viral, the outspoken politician is seen walking away from a yellow chopper which he landed on at Kamutuandu Primary School in Tharaka sub-county.

In separate photos, he is seen donned in a short, a t-shirt and busy together with other people muddying the torn-apart walls of a classroom.

The Senator shared the photos himself though his facebook page.

One resident from Tharaka Nithi questioned why the Senator would take pride in such a project yet he has the capability to initiate better development.

“Why would the Senator take pride in this? He is a man of means and he can rope in necessary support and get better classrooms obviously not mud-walled,” Mutuiri Kimathi said.

Veronicah Kinya added: “This is really embarrassing. How long will the mud-walled classrooms last before they come crumbling down? Senator Kindiki this is a let-down.”

Tharaka MP George Murugara was not spared the criticism either as residents questioned why he cannot allocate money for constructing better classes from NG-CDF.

“Area MP please do something. You have CDF money use it on this!” said Silas Mururu.
