The family of a 13-year old Pupil from Murang’a is in agony after their daughter was raped by a police officer manning her cell where she had been locked in.

The standard eight pupil at St Mary’s Primary school in Kiharu was arrested last week on Friday and locked up at Murang’a police station for allegedly stealing clothes at a friend’s house near Murang’a University.

However, the following night, a police officer entered her cell and raped her.

He later threw away the condom he used on the roof of the toilet according to Daily Nation.

But the minor remained quiet not knowing what to do.

An inmate who had been at the police station witnessed the drama as the officer tried to clean himself up and also when he threw away the condom that landed on the roof of the toilet.

He recorded the whole drama and shared it on facebook under the name Jeff Nelson G.

The inmate, identified as Nelson G had been arrested for obstructing police on duty.

He narrated that in the Juvenile cell; only the minor was locked in while the male cell had six inmates.

“On Saturday night, a male cop who seemed to be in his 30s walked in and switched the lights off.

‘‘He then proceeded to the ladies’ cells where the juvenile had been locked in alone. I peeped through the cells door and I could hear some murmurs and movement. I spent about ten minutes there only to see the same cop walking out while zipping up his trousers.

‘‘He then proceeded to a tap near the toilets, pulled out the spent condom, cleaned himself up and threw the dirt above the toilets roof. He then went back to the OB desk and came back with a roll of toilet paper, which he handed over to the girl,” read the post as Daily Nation further quotes.

The inmate added that he confronted the officer over what he had done and he, the officer, started being kind to him.

The rogue officer promised to help the girl get out but that never happened, his post added.

“I managed to talk to the young girl who told me that the cop had promised to bail her out if she gave in to his demands. Early this morning, the cop checked out for his day off duty and left without a word. I was released at around 10am and as I left, the young girl was still in the cells faced with even more problems than just her case.”

More appalling is that while word at the Police Headquarters indicated the culprit had been arrested, it was found out that he was still on duty.

Murang’a North police Chief Johnstone Limo said he learnt of the matter through facebook and no arrest have been made yet. They are however, started investigations into the matter.

The minor was charged on Monday for handling stolen items but did not take a plea and she was remanded at Murang’a remand home.

She was not granted bail either. The case is set to be heard on October 13.

At her home village in Kiharu constituency, the minor’s grandmother expressed distaste with the act as well as arrest of her grand-daughter whom she describes as obedient and disciplined.

“We have information that the alleged officer has not been arrested and we would like him to face the law,” she said.

The girl was taken to hospital but results have not been released yet.
