Kenyan recorded 120 new coronavirus cases in the country on Monday raising the total number of cases to 6,190.
Health CAS Dr Rashid Aman in his daily brief said that they tested 2,221 samples in the last 24 hours.
The youngest is six years old and the oldest is 83 years old. 115 of them are Kenyans and five are foreigners.
Forty-two patients were discharged bringing the cumulative number of recoveries to 2,103.
Sadly, one more person passed on. The total deaths are now 144.
Nairobi had the highest cases with 67 new cases followed by Mombasa with 17 cases. Busia and Kiambu also recorded new cases.
Dr Aman noted that soon enough, all the 47 counties in the country will have recorded coronavirus cases.
“..this should not make us panic..”Dr Aman said.
The new cases come as reports emerge that six MPs are currently in hospital battling the virus.
Their names are, however, withheld.
They are reportedly said to have come into contact with State House Staff who tested positive for coronavirus a fortnight ago.
One of them, intimated an MP privy to this, has been admitted at Nairobi Hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU).
A group of other MPs who were in contact with the six are awaiting their test results.
Asked by journalists to confirm this during his presser at Afya House, Dr Aman steered clear of the matter saying that he cannot speak about it because there are relevant authorities who can respond adequately.
Other unconfirmed reports indicate that two Kabarak Guest House staffer tested positive for coronavirus on Monday and have since been taken into isolation.
About 80 of their contacts have been placed on quarantines in Nakuru.
