Somali president promises to defeat Al-Shabaab in two years

BY Jamhuri News Reporter

Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi “Farmajo” Mohamed has said that he believes with international support, his administration would be able to defeat Al-Shabaab in just two years.

Speaking from London, the president asked the international world to extend support, training, and equipment to fight and finish the Al-Shabaab.

Mohamed has been in power for just three months.

Al-Shabaab has been in control of major towns in Somalia, but the militants have in the recent past been overpowered by the nation’s army, with reinforcement from the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).

The president said this while speaking to a  BBC journalist, who pointed out that previous Somali leaders have made similar pledges.
