Spare ‘Patanisho’ from the axe, Radio Jambo’s Gidi Gidi pleads with Kenyans

Radio Jambo’s breakfast show host Gidi Gidi has pleaded with Kenyans to spare his show ‘Sema na Gidi na Ghost’ from being axed following the suspension of Homeboyz Radio breakfast show Lit Off.,

On Sunday the regulator, Communication Authority of Kenya (CA) suspended the show for six months following uproar from Kenyans over utterance made by its three presenters – Shaffie Weru, Neville and DJ Joe Mfalme Wednesday last week.

The three who have since been sacked by the radio station managed by Radio Africa are said to have glorified sexual violence on women.

With the saga pitting Radio Africa’s-owned radio stations for the content they air, Gidi told Kenyans that ‘Patanisho Show” is just about reconciling lovers and mending broken relationships with some laughter too.

“Patanisho is just an ice breaker show with light moments to make partners reconnect, hatuna ubaya na any gender. Laughter is medicine and can make quarrelling couples to start talking. Msituzime woiyee,” Gidi appealed on Sunday night.

“Partanisho” loosely translates to “reconciliation”. It is one of the most popular segment of in the morning Swahili radio station.

Patanisho Show is more popular in Western Kenya where a majority of those who seek to be enjoined with estranged wives and husbands call in seeking help.

It is characteristic of laughter from Ghost, Gidi’s co-host who makes it lively with his signature laughter as “lost soul” make passionate appeals to their former lovers and ask for forgiveness for straying.

In some cases, the lovers come to terms while in others, it is a classic case of adding salt to an injury. Either way, the show is entertaining.
