A bus belonging to City Shuttle Company plying various routes within Nairobi on Wednesday morning overturned within the CBD at the junction of Kenyatta Avenue and Koinange Street.
At least 14 passengers out of the 56 passengers aboard were injured during the 6 am accident.
Witnesses according to the Star said the driver of the bus was speeding and that he ignored traffic lights before he hit a saloon car and later the bus overturned.
The passengers were briefly trapped in the wreckage. But well-wishers together with fire fighters helped them out.
The injured were rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital.
Six men and eight women were reportedly rushed to KNH according to communication officer Samuel Ithai.
Of the male taken to the hospital was the conductor who according to Ithai sustained serious injuries since us toppled over his side.
He is in stable condition though.
The rest of the passengers, he added, suffered from soft tissue injuries.
“They seem to be soft tissue injuries.”
