Insecurity fears are rife at the Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) following the murder of a female third-year student only identified as Macrine.
Her half-naked body was found dumped in Kakamega after a gory rape ordeal.
There were visible injuries on her thighs when her body was found in a thicket. Reports indicate that she went missing on Tuesday evening from Kefinco Estate.
Macrine was pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Education
(English/Literature). On the fateful day, she is reported to have been heading back to her house on Tuesday evening when she was kidnapped.
Her body was taken to Kakamega Referral Hospital mortuary for an autopsy.
Students at the institution on Wednesday held peaceful demonstrations condemning their colleague’s death.
She is the fifth MMUST student to be killed in Kenfico area in the last two years.
David Kabena, the Kakamega OCPD assured the students that investigations will be conducted.
