Another 810 more COVID-19 cases were recorded on Wednesday bringing the total number of cases in the country to 79,322.
Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said that 7,387 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
Out of the positive cases, 792 were Kenyans while 18 were foreigners. 475 were male and 355 were female. The youngest case was a one-year-old infant while the oldest was aged 87.
Some 265 more patients recovered from the disease bringing the total recoveries to 52,974.
Out of the 265 recoveries, 210 were from home-based care program, and 55 from various hospitals around the country.
Sadly, eight patients succumbed to the virus bringing the total number of deaths to 1,417.
So far, there are 1,198 patients admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 7,169 are on home-based isolation and care.
Another 49 patients are in the intensive care unit (ICU), 31 of whom are on ventilatory support, and 14 on supplemental oxygen.
Another 106 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen. Out of this, 91are in the general wards. 15 are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
Meanwhile, 33 teachers have died since March when the first case of COVID-19 was reported.
Majority of these deaths occurred after schools were reopened on October 12, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has said.
