Two employees at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) are among 181 people who tested positive for coronavirus on Monday.
The total number of coronavirus cases is now 8,067.
Naim Bilal, the managing director at KBC called for extreme caution among the staff in observing measures set to curbs the spread of coronavirus.
In a memo, he stated that: “Despite our good efforts, it has emerged that two of our staff have tested positive for Covid-19. While appropriate protocols have been activated to prevent infection from the affected staff, the situation calls for enhanced personal responsibility within and outside Broadcasting House to protect ourselves, colleagues, families and others.”
About 40 sanitization booths have been set up within the precincts of the broadcaster to ensure hand hygiene is observed religiously.
On Saturday, Sarova Stanley’s Thorn Tree Café shut down after two employees tested positive for coronavirus.
The establishment said that the temporary closure was in a bid to ensure that they comply with health regulations at the hotel and which include fumigation and disinfection.
“Sarova Hotels and Resorts confirms that two of our employees at Sarova Stanley Thorn Tree Café have tested positive for Covid-19. The two are currently in a stable condition and in isolation as per the ministry of Health guidelines,” a statement read in part.
On a bright note, 127 people were discharged bringing total recoveries to 2, 414. Sadly, four more people lost their lives. The death toll is now 164.
