Uhuru: Raila busy kneeling for Europeans instead of vote hunting

Mediators from International Community sympathizing with NASA’s Raila Odinga are not welcome to Kenya for arbitration talks, President Uhuru Kenyatta has stated.

He chided Raila saying “he is kneeling before Europeans” and has since lost focus and is not campaigning anymore.

Speaking at Kenol, Murang’a County on Saturday, Uhuru said Raila has given up on the repeat polls and is now seeking other ways to get into power.

“We said this over one year ago and we are now being vindicated. He tried ‘showing us’ but it became hard and he is now kneeling before Europeans for help while he should be seeking votes,” charged the President as quoted by the Star.

He went on: “Foreigners will not help him because this is our country and we put our foot down…that Kofi Annan or any arbitrator is not welcome to Kenya to broker peace with someone not interested in an election. Kenyan voters will vote.”

Jubilee brigade has accused Raila of plotting for a coalition government through the help of foreign entities whom Uhuru last week on Sunday described as “wazungu”.

Raila is in the UK where he delivered a lecture at the Chatham House after meeting high profile leaders in the UK including Minister of State for Africa Rory Stewart.

In an interview with Citizen TV while in London, Raila maintained there will be no elections on October 26.

But Deputy President William Ruto maintained elections will go on as planned.

Ruto also said they will not engage in any talks aimed at charting a powering sharing arrangement with Raila.

“Raila can travel to all cities in the world but what matters is that we will not sit for any talks or negotiations. We will let the people decide through the ballot so he should be ready for the election,” he said,” said the DP.

He added Kenyans can no longer stomach unfocused politics.

“Kenyans want development-focused politics, not rhetoric on how to sneak into power without allowing the people to decide the leaders they want.”

Uhuru said they will not allow rogue NASA protesters destroy public property.

“We are not going to watch as protesters stone our police stations or steal from Wanjiku in the name of demos. We are a government of rule of law and order and that must stand,” said the President.
