NASA leader Raila Odinga has spoken about Friday’s chaos in the city after his comeback from a 10-day visit from the US.

Three people were killed as his supporters engaged police in running battles within the city.

After Raila left the airport, the procession kicked off but it was characterized by massive damages to property, burning tyres on the roads and burning of vehicles.

A PSV matatu was set ablaze at Muthurwa market while a police truck was also set a blaze.

As a result, police shot at the demonstrators and killed three of them.

Water cannons did not spare the NASA supporters either as they blasted them with the chemical-laced water.

In a statement, Raila accused the Jubilee regime of brutality.

He said his supporters were not armed and instead, it was Jubilee militia disguised as NASA supporters who were armed.

“The world has today witnessed the use of unprecedented and unnecessary brutality by the Jubilee regime directed at a mass of humanity,” said Raila.

“These supporters of NASA were unarmed civilians peacefully exercising their right to assembly… Jubilee regime used tear gas, water cannons, armed militia and live bullets to disperse supporters of the National Super Alliance, in the process killing several and maiming many.”

He said they hold President Uhuru Kenyatta responsible for the happenings on Friday because he has created the chaos.

“This is a reckless, insensitive and primitive response to a crisis Uhuru Kenyatta himself has created.

“We hold President Uhuru Kenyatta and his illegitimate regime responsible for this absurd and unfortunate turn of events. The President has the blood of innocent Kenyans on his hands.”

Raila’s Range Rover’s bullet-proof windscreen was smashed at the Uhuru highway roundabout. He was inside the vehicle at the time but was not injured.

Via his twitter handle, he claimed this was an attempt on his life.

“Raila Odinga has survived an attempt on his life while driving into town from JKIA, following his arrival from the US this morning. Fortunately he and all co-passengers are well owing to his state-of-the-art bullet-proof car,” read the tweet.

Police had a hard time trying to contain the NASA supporters from heading to Uhuru Park where they had scheduled to have a major rally.

Bouts of choking teargas, gunshots and water cannons came to play as police tried to barricade the supporters from heading to the city centre.

However, Raila maintained Uhuru’s tact to remain in power is a “beaten one “and he will suffer the fate of Zimbabwe’s  Robert Mugambe.

“Kenyans however need to take heart that the path Uhuru is taking is a beaten one. It is the same path that was taken by Yaya Jameh in the Gambia, Blaise Compaore in Burkina Faso, Laurent Gbagbo in Ivory Coast, Faure Gnassingbe in Togo and now Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe. The results here will not be different.”
