A day after IEBC named a new 6-member team to oversee repeat polls on October 17; Jubilee has rejected the members in totality.

In a letter to IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati on Wednesday, JP Secretary-General Raphael Tuju said they are partisan.

“We have received credible information that in the list, there are people known to be partisan,” said Tuju as the Star quotes.

Chebukati had named Marjan Hussein Marjan as the coordinator of the new team. He replaced Ezra Chiloba (CEO).

Others are Salome Oyugi  who replaced Praxedes Tororey as the head of legal affairs, Nancy Kariuki replacing Immaculate Kasait (director of election affairs), and Albert Gogo taking over from James Muhati, the ICT head.

Others who were listed by Tuju include: Decimah Mmayi, Chispie Owiye, Joseph Ayatta, Joyce Euom, Tabitha Mutemi, Limus Onyango and Caroline Manyange.

“Given the fact that acts of omission or commission that rendered the [August 8 general] election null and void originated from the IEBC staff, we hereby register our strong objection to the deployment of the above to be in a position to run the process,” added the JP SG.

There has been disquiet at the commission over omission of Chiloba in the repeat polls scheduled for October 17.

NASA on the other hand was opposed to having Chiloba, Kasait, Tororey, Muhati in the team steering the repeat elections.

Pundits argue that Chebukati made the changes to stay in the clear as NASA has been pushing hard to have the four stay away from the polls.
