President Uhuru Kenyatta led Jubilee Party has sacked about 200 workers.

This move came after the offices resumed from the Christmas holidays on January 9.

Among those affected by the changes include senior members of the secretariat, senior directors and the party’s county coordinators.

Jubilee Party Secretary General Rapahel Tuju confirmed that some of the party’s staff were sacked.

However, he remained tight lipped on the number of those dismissed.

He said this is part of the party’s restructuring and such drastic measures are not an exception.

“We have to cut our cloth according to our size. We want to hire and we will do that according to our needs,” said Tuju according to the Standard.

He added that this was part of a plan to further strengthen the party.

But pundits have it that the massive lay-offs at Jubilee Party headquarters have a 2022 succession undertone.
