UK-based Kenyan preacher Gilbert Deya Extradited to face child trafficking charges in Kenya

Gilbert Deya, the controversial preacher involved in child trafficking case has been extradited to face charges in his native country Kenya.

The preacher is famous for his ”miracle babies” scandal that he’s being accused of.

Deya landed at JKIA early Friday morning from London where he ran his church of an estimated 34,000 followers.

Police officials at the airport confirmed his arrival but reserved more details about his case. He was accompanied by several UK police officers and three Kenyan police who had gone to London to assist in extradition.

Deya had survived extradition for a decade, arguing that the jails in Kenya are cruel and inhuman.

His wife, Mary Deya, was in January sentenced to three years in Jail after she was found guilty of stealing a baby in 2005. Mary was also found guilty of two counts of providing false information.

Records show that she had earlier served two other jail terms.

The extradited preacher is said to have allegedly stolen newborn babies from Pumwani hospital where he worked as a watchman and giving them to his congregants as ‘miracle babies’.
