It is now easier for Kenyans students who wish to pursue their degree and master’s in the United Kingdom to apply following a call by the British government for Kenyan students to apply.
On Monday, the UK government announced a fresh window for new applications.
British High Commissioner to Kenya Jane Mariott in a statement rallied Kenyans to apply for further studies in UK universities saying that this is an opportune moment.
“Thinking of studying in the UK? Good news – university admissions for 2020 are happening now! UK universities are among the best in the world and in 2018/19 they welcomed over 2000 students,” UK in Kenya, the official Twitter handle for British High Commission in Kenya stated.
On the British Council website, the UK said that it looks forward to having new students in autum 2020.
“Our open and inclusive way of life will inspire you, our rich cultural history will fire your imagination and – as our universities are the among the most trusted and respected in the entire world – you’ll be able to develop your best and brightest ideas by studying here.
“UK universities are preparing to welcome new students in autumn 2020. Almost all universities are preparing to deliver some in-person teaching this autumn term. Some will blend face-to-face teaching with online technology and tools to enhance student education and ensure teaching is delivered in a safe environment. In the UK, your wellbeing comes first,” a statement read.
Those interested in undergraduate courses can apply between July 6 and October 20 while postgraduate students’ vacancies remain open throughout summer.
Further, interested Kenyan students are required to pay £300 (Ksh32,339) per year for Immigration Health Surcharge which will enable the UK government to enrol them to National Health Service (NHS) without additional charges.
The British Council also called on the applicants to familiarize themselves with UK Visa requirements since most of the Visa centres remain closed due to coronavirus pandemic.
The applicants will also be required to demonstrate their mastery of the Queen’s language before being allowed to study in the UK.
A week ago, the UK government said that it will offer jobs to highly-skilled Kenyans and offer two-year employment in the UK to completing master’s student.
