Veteran politician Kalembe Ndile dies at Nairobi Hospital

Veteran politician from Ukambani region Kalembe Ndile is dead.

Kalembe died on Saturday night while receiving treatment at the Nairobi Hospital.

The former Kibwezi MP according to his nephew Nzioki Kimilu had a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He succumbed to the disease after years of treatment.

He died aged 57.

His body is currently being moved to the Lee Funeral Home.

Kalembe has been vocal on matters of politics and was pivotal in the birth of the Jubilee Party which incorporated different political parties.

ODM boss Raila Odinga mourned the deceased as a charismatic leader who cared for his constituents deeply.

“With great shock, I have learnt of the passing of former MP Hon Kalembe Ndile. The people of Kibwezi and our country have lost a charismatic leader with exceptional grassroots mobilization skills who also cared deeply for the underprivileged. May He Rest In Eternal Peace,” Raila eulogized.

Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua eulogized the late: “I am deeply sad to learn of the passing of one of Kenya’s top political orators, Hon. Kalembe Ndile “Mtoto wa Squatter”. Hon. Ndile was a brave voice of the people. A self-made leader, he was a darling to audiences & to us all. A huge loss to our region. Kenya has lost a hero.”

Former Kathiani MP and now the Transport CAS Wavinya Ndeti termed Kalembe a hardworking leader who served with humility.

“We are saddened by the loss of a visionary figure and a hardworking businessman-cum-politician. One Kalembe Ndile humbly served the country with dedication at the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife and also diligently represented the people of Kibwezi as Member of Parliament.”
