A one-time critic of President Uhuru Kenyatta is now asking for his help to save his political career.

Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino on Wednesday told the press outside Parliament that he has “burned” and its time the President get him out of the furnace.

“In the Bible, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were put in a furnace to burn to death for failing to obey the king but came out of the furnace stronger,” said the MP according to the Star.

He added that Uhuru put him in the furnace and  he has burned already which is why he should come to his aid.

“I would like to tell the President that he has put Babu Owino in fire and that he has burned and he is strong. I do not want to be stronger than this. Let him remove me from the fire.”

The MP was referring to political support after his election was nullified by the High Court. He claimed at the time that the President and his Deputy William Ruto had a hand in it.

A tough speaking Babu ridiculed the President saying that he will still win the by-election. “No one can destroy me. If either Uhuru or Ruto decides to vie against me in Embakasi East, I will beat them seriously.”

The petition had been lodged by his competitor, Francis Mureithii of Jubilee Party.

His latest appeal to the President comes just days after his party leader Raila Odinga called for a truce with the President.

On Tuesday, the MP made up with Starehe MP Charles Kanyi alias Jaguar whom he had engaged with in a brawl last year in October.
