[VIDEO] Kenyan teen competes for sh25M scholarship in Zuckerberg’s funded challenge

A 14-year old Kenyan girl is among contestants from around the world competing in this year’s Breakthrough Junior challenge.

Breakthrough Junior challenge was founded by Facebook Founder Mark Zuckerberg and its aim is to enhance critical thinking in sciences.

Kenya will be represented by Ephy Adhiambo Oreny from Raila Educational centre, reports Nairobi News.

The young teen is optimistic of winning the challenge and get sh25 million ($250, 000) scholarship as well as a science laboratory for her school worth sh10 million ($100, 000).

Oreny’s presentation which has been posted on You Tube as is the requirement for the competition focuses on the brain.

She is passionate about science.

Besides Zuckerberg, the Breakthrough Junior Challenge has been funded by the National Geographic, Sergey Brin and Anne Wojcicki.

This year’s competition saw many students from the US submit their applications as well as those fom Singapore.

The prize giving is due in December 2017.
