Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo is the latest sensation on social media after he paid a courtesy call on Raila Odinga.

His visit to Raila’s Capitol Hill office on Tuesday was exactly a month after the historic handshake between the opposition leader and President Uhuru Kenyatta at Harambee House on March 9.

“This morning I paid a courtesy call on H.E Raila Odinga, discussed a wide range of issues. Uniting Kenya top of them,” read Kabogo’s tweet accompanied by a handshake photo between him and Raila.

His handshake with Raila did not come as a surprise to many because he at one point, last year, had asked Uhuru to dialogue with Raila.

The ex-Kiambu governor told the President that the only way to drive Kenya forward was to talk issues out with the opposition chief who commands a relatively huge following.

A section of Kenyans praised the ex-governor for the noble gesture given that he has in the past issued statements ridiculing Raila.

@kagwikanini said: “Great leadership @honKabogo. You will be the next kingpin in Mt Kenya.’

@Stephenkaranja tweeted: “I admire your style of politics. Am your criticizer but your smartness its every admirable (sic).”

@Eshole told Kabogo that with such acts, he will emerge stronger as a politician if he learns the “cards” from Raila. “You will emerge stronger, learn from his cards.”

Nyakwar Nyakeyo asked Kabogo to vie for President in 2022 because he has demonstrated the spirit of true leadership besides holding different political views with Raila.

“Bwana Kabogo contest for the President we are ready to back you,” stated @NNyakeyo.
