Walk-in consular services at Kenyan embassy in Washington DC suspended over COVID-19

On-site consular services at the Kenyan embassy in Washington, DC will be unavailable starting Monday, March 16.

The embassy headed by Lazarus Ombai Amayo suspended all its walk-in services in the wake of coronavirus scourge which continues to ravage the world citing that the health of Kenyans living in the US remains a high priority.

Following the directive, services that stand suspended at the embassy include the application for e-passport, visa and Kenya identity cars.

“As a precautionary measure to address the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic, the walk in services of the Consular section at the Embassy of The Republic of Kenya Washington D.C. including application for e-Passport, Kenya ID’s, Visas etc will remain closed from Monday 16th March 2020 until further notice,” read the notice from the Kenyan embassy in Washington DC according to Nairobi News.

Kenyans living in the US and those travelling to the American nation were urged by the Kenyan embassy to adhere to safety standards outlined by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Last week, the American embassy in Nairobi suspended all consular services over COVID-19 scare.

“The @MOH_Kenya has suspended all public gatherings, meetings and events. All routine consular appointments from March 16-27 are canceled. In the case of a U.S. citizen in need of emergency assistance, please use the details provided here: http://ow.ly/LDTQ30qpyr4 |@CDCKenya,” the embassy tweeted.
