Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula was on Tuesday ousted as the Leader of Minority in the Senate by NASA Senators.

In a morning Coalition’s Parliamentary Group meeting, at least 19 Senators voted in favour of his oust and replaced him with Siaya Senator James Orengo.

One of the Senators at the meeting said they have over a while felt there needs to be a change in Senate’s minority leadership because the Ford Kenya party boss is not delivering.

“Some of us have been uneasy with Wetang’ula’s style of leadership. He is arrogant, a bully and doesn’t want to listen to us,” a Senator who requested not to be named told the Star.

“That’s why we want him out. We also don’t want a principal in Senate matters,” he added.

The changes will now have Kakamega Senator Cleopa Malala elected on an ANC ticket take up the position of Deputy Minority Leader-a position previously held by Orengo.

Nominated Senator Beatrice Kwamboka (ODM will take up the position deputy whip effectively replacing nominated Senator Petronilla Were (ANC) who has been holding the position.

Senator Judy Pareno (Nominated) is poised to join the Speaker’s panel now that Malala has been fronted for deputy Minority Leader.

The coalition will hand in the resolution and minutes of their meeting to Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka who will then announce the changes.

“We are waiting communication from the Speaker this afternoon on our PG decision. We want the proposed changes in Senate leadership to be made once Orengo is confirmed as Minority Leader,” added another Senator as further quoted by the Star.

This development is likely to fuel conflict within the NASA summit where Wetangula is reported to have developed bad blood with Raila Odinga over the minority leadership change in the Senate.
