A young woman, Ann Waithera who allegedly stabbed her boyfriend to death in Gitaru, Kiambu County a week ago has been apprehended.

Waithera, 23 allegedly stabbed her boyfriend Kevin Kamami aged 29 and took off with his phone.

Police launched a manhunt for her and she surrendered to police in Nakuru on Monday after a week-long police manhunt for her.

She was transferred to Kingeero Police Station in Kabete where she is currently being held before her arraignment at the Kikuyu Law Courts on Wednesday.

Area sub-county police commander Martin Wekesa confirmed the victim is in police custody.

Waithera hails from Nyahururu. She had been living with the deceased for over a year before she allegedly murdered him while in his sleep.

The family of the deceased said that their son told that Waithera was just a girlfriend and not his wife.

On the day of the murder, the deceased’s father said that a neighbour alerted him of noise coming from his son’s house.

It is then that he made his way to Kevin’s house and bumped into Waithera at the door. She was hysterical but he did not ask her where she was going because she thought Kevin had assaulted her.

“I went to my son’s house and I met the girlfriend running out. I even thought she was running because she was the one being beaten,” he narrated.

“When I entered the room I found my son lying in a pool of blood. He had been stubbed around the neck. I called in the neighbour and as I rushed to ignite the car to take him to hospital, the neighbour told me he was already dead.”
