You are the problem, Ruto tells Raila over resistance movement

Deputy President William Ruto has questioned who the problem is between them and opposition.

In reference to NASA’s launch of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), he said NASA has reverted to unconstitutional ways to sabotage Jubilee regime.

NASA has called for civil disobedience and boycott of products and services from companies perceived to be pro-Jubilee.

Through NRM, opposition is pushing for “liberation” that will install a legitimate President.

But Ruto questioned if this is how NASA has resolved to articulate their grievances.

Ina tweet on Friday, the DP said: “Those who campaigned against the old constitution have started campaigning against the new one again. So, is the law the problem or are they?”

Ruto’s assertion was in reference to Raila’s advocacy for the 2010 Constitution.

Raila was for the 2010 Constitution while Ruto was on the opposed it.

The DP feels Raila is on a sabotaging mission by utter disregard of the Constitution.

He has on several occasions told off the former Prime Minister over his call for removal of IEBC commissioners and the CEO Ezra Chiloba.

This, Ruto said with backing by Jubilee brigade, that it is unconstitutional. But Raila kept on insisting the commissioners should exit.

In reference to the formation of People’s Assembly by NASA, he said because Raila respects no Constitution, the Assembly will fail.

“If you cannot respect the constitution that exists then don’t waste your time making a new one. It will suffer the same fate.”

People’s Assembly which constitutes elected leaders, civil society groups, youths and women will review the Constitution and highlight sections that do not support opposition’s rebellion course.

A technical committee which has already been formed to conduct the review will draft a memorandum and introduce it in county assemblies as a Bill.

Governors in the counties allied to NASA will push for its approval at the county level before it is pushed for national enactment.
