You can boycott August polls, won’t go to Dubai Tuju hits out at NASA over Al Ghurair claims

The Al Ghurair controversy has taken a new twist after Jubilee Party leadership maintained none of its members will go to Dubai as earlier proposed by IEBC.

Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju in a statement today said they will not send any representative to the printing firm based in Dubai.

“We don’t care who gets this contract. We will not take the offer by IEBC to do any inspection in Dubai. If NASA wants to boycott the elections let them boycott,” charged Tuju as reported by the Star.

His stand resonated with a proposal by IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati who on Wednesday invited political parties to join his team to Dubai on June 22 to monitor ballot printing in a bid to dispel any fears of rigging.

He also defended President Uhuru Kenyatta against claims that he met with Al Ghurair Chairman, Majid Saif Al Ghurair.

“The person who met with the President just has a similar name as that of Azizi Al Ghurair. He is a different person.”

Tuju added that they have had enough with the opposition demands about IEBC.

“We cannot have a situation where NASA makes false claims then the IEBC catches a cold and does everything to appease them, handing them tickets like sweets.”

“NASA will always complain [about] something. Each of them calculated to derail the elections…they talk too much. We are very disappointed with IEBC…that when NASA says something they run around like headless chicken,” he added.
